When you want to better your life, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by where to start. If you want to feel better and start prioritizing your well-being and inner world, I have for you 3 everyday habits for your mind and body, 3 habits to feel good and focus on pleasure and happiness, and then 3 habits or rules to live by. The main goal is to simplify how to create a lifestyle that is authentic, makes you feel better, prioritizes your well-being, and is built on flow and self-compassion.
If you want something, consistency is key, but how do you achieve that? It can be hard if you are so strict with yourself, have an all-or-nothing mindset, and try to do way too much. The key is to do your best, come from a place of self-love, and have self-compassion. Consistency is the fact that you are showing up every day, you don’t need to do it all. Show up for yourself, do things you know make you feel better, take care of your inner world, and it will show in your outer world.
FOR YOUR MIND & BODY
- Getting your daily dose of sunlight and spending at least 15 minutes outside has so many benefits. Before I check my phone, I make sure to soak up sunlight for a couple of minutes in the morning, then later in my day I try to spend at least 15 minutes outside. You can go for a walk, walk barefoot in the grass, spend time observing nature, or just read and journal outside. I am such a homebody, so it’s important for me to be conscious of this habit.
- Everyone should meditate. Many people live their whole life out of their bodies and in their heads, numbing their feelings. That is one of my goals right now, being conscious about being in my body and sinking into my feelings. I practice EFT tapping, breathwork, observing my thoughts, and releasing the tension I hold in my body daily, trying to regulate my nervous system.
- Journaling is my last habit for you. Journal dumping is amazing if you are someone that thinks about all that you have to do on a loop in your head and if your mind is constantly going. Just get it all out on paper. Every day I try to journal 1-2 times a day, whatever I need for that day, whether it’s a journal dump, scripting, affirmations and gratitude, setting goals, working through emotions, or this practice that I learned recently that I love: say what you’re clearing, what you’re celebrating, and what you’re desiring each day.
FOR YOUR HEART
- Being happy is very simple. This is the key: do things that make you happy. Allow yourself to feel happy, practice gratitude and appreciation, and make time for the things you love. You should have a hobby that is just for you, just for pleasure. Stop focusing on what you should be doing, and do what you want, keep your day open and follow what feels good, have your heart and intuition lead you, and be present and appreciative.
- Being conscious about what you are thinking and telling yourself is the best thing you can do. There is always a negative and positive spin to whatever you’re experiencing, it’s your choice which one you go with. Be your own biggest hype man, say affirmations you mean, play the what-if game, be grateful for everything you do have, and appreciate the little things. Work with yourself and in hard times, tell yourself things that make you feel better not worse. Just be kind to yourself, and treat yourself the way you would treat your best friend.
- My life fucking motto now is to wrap yourself in love. If you are someone who feels shame, then wrap yourself in love. Wrap EVERYTHING in love. Wrap every drink and meal, every fight, every conversation, every moment in love. Reach for love within you, it’s always there no matter how far you think it feels. It’s simultaneously the easiest and hardest thing to do, but you deserve to feel love even in your darkest moments.
FOR THE SOUL
- How do you live an authentic life? Well, you live an honest one. First, know your values and morals, then live by them. If you make every decision aligned with your values, you will be golden. The other thing you need to do is, to be honest with yourself and others. A lot of people spend their life not being truthful with themselves. Why? If you’re not honest with yourself, how can you be self-aware or honest with others?
- If you feel like you’re not good enough and therefore feel like you are never doing enough, you try to do it all, then give up and beat yourself up, you try to be consistent, but you can never keep up with the lifestyle you set for yourself, again, you end up beating yourself up, then your goal should be to do your best. It should not be perfection, but your best with your circumstances and the energy you have right now. Don’t push yourself, but listen to your body. Your worth is not tied to what you do.
- Lastly, don’t look outside of yourself for anything. Everything you want is just a feeling. Pinpoint what feeling you want that you are projecting onto whatever object you want, then, allow yourself to feel that feeling and do things that make you feel that way. If you want something from someone else, you want them to change their behavior, so you can feel a certain way, that is what you should give yourself. Everything is a mirror, realize that so you can use it to your benefit.
I hope you enjoyed this blog and found it inspiring and simple that you can even start taking the steps today. The goal is to feel better, not to do everything at once so you feel overwhelmed. If you only start one habit that takes care of your inner world, that makes a difference. If you want to level up your life, you need to start with your inner world. If you’re overwhelmed with where to start, well this is why I have this blog for you. Your best is always enough. Something is always better than nothing. Just focus on one step at a time. What can you do right now that makes you feel better?
